The  Romans  protected  their  province  of  Britain  against  the  barbarian  tribes  until  they  left  which  was  at  the  beginning  of  the  5th  century. In  the  middle  of  the  5th  century  the  Anglo-Saxons,  Germanic  tribes,  invaded Britain.
