HOUSE PRICE RISE “BEST SINCE 1973”
Category: Land + People(abridged)
House prices have produced their most positive upward movement over the past few months since May 1973, according to a survey of England and Wales by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in conjunction with the Department of the Environment.
At the end of February, nearly a quarter of -RIGS estate agents reported sale prices on average 5 to 8 per cent higher that six months previously. It remained well below the general rate of inflation, while the majority of agents reported prices rising at a rate of only 4 per cent or less.
- In contrast, the survey showed sales slower than expected, falling back about 10 per cent.
